WHAT I REMEMBER MOST ABOUT "SMOKIN' JOE The sport of boxing lost a true legend with the passing of former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier. So much of my early days following boxing had to do with Joe Frazier. I was only ten years old... more | Guestbook | |
 | Greetings: My name is James Olmstead and I accepted Sal's "Legends of Leather" honer for my father Dick Olmstead, back in 1988. Dad was the Warren Tribune's sports editor and for the last 5 months I've been organizing his various sports files. I have a large amount of photos of the greats and near greats associated to Ohio boxing and the "heavy's" taken by my father. I can be contacted at jolmstead@neo.rr.com put Boxing in subjectline, perhaps we can work together on a project to save this material. |

 | Great site!! This is the era that boxing was at it's best. I hope that Palomino and Cuevas are in good health. Can you let me know how they're doing? Thanks, Tony |
 | Wow, what a matchup. Tough to call, prime Pryor was a machine with speed, quickness and power, and prime Sugar Ray was practically a perfect fighting machine. Hate to pick against my man Pryor but I'll give Sugar Ray a split decision over 15 awesome rounds

 | Jim,
Berto being underdog, I agree but I also think he is overrated. The Colazo fight was more than a challenge for Berto. |
 | I believe Berto is a "live" underdog against Shane. I like this match up ! |
 | The upcoming 2010 boxing schedule looks weak to me......... After "Klit-Kevin Johnson" next week, it gets pretty bland........ "Mosley-Berto" is okay... I suppose........ Peace...... |
 | Legends of Leather a great name Jim. |
 | In honor of my recently departed friend Sal Marino I have renamed this site "Legends Of Leather". That was the name of his Boxing Club. |
 | Armando...You are welcome and thank you for everything you have done to help me. I really like your new site. Take care... |
 | Jim Amato thank you for all your help. your friend Armando |
 | I wish some of you guys would hit up ESB again and do some posting..... I always check in there... I like a fast moving thread / article.... I also never post under an alias..... I am a straight shooter....... Hit me with some e-mails, etc.....'

 | Bill...Good to hear from you. I've always been OK with Kurt's quality. If you plan to buy any fights, call or e-mail Kurt about their quality. He's a good guy. Take care...JIM |
 | Jimmers,
I called Kurt Noltmier yrs ago back in Joliet... I saw he had an add in a boxing mag that was so-so..... I ended up buying elsewhere, but I am curious about Kurt's quality..... Peace...... |
 | I have HIGH hopes for "Klit-Chagaev" this Sat. night... I want some action.... Please, no high profile sparring event.... However, I smell one brewing..... ARGH! Go Klit... |
 | Tracy...Try Kurt Noltmier at ; kurtboxing@aol.com
I think he will be able to hook you up.

No doubt the most well known heavyweight to come out of Canada is George Chuvalo. For a while Lennox Lewis called it his home and Trevor Berbick made his mark but George is still #1 in Canada. Nevertheless there is a... more | Music | Mar 8, 2010 |
